Redefining Peer Review: The Role of AI in Scientific Publishing

Although a central pillar of science for over a century, peer-review is coming under increasing scrutiny. Fairness, robustness and integrity are all coming under the spotlight as funders, publishers and researchers attempt to find ways to independently evaluate academic work, efficiently as possible. In the last year alone, AI has revolutionized the way we interact with information. Machines such as ChatGPT have shown the transformative power that technology can have on an industry. As key players in the peer-review process, this panel will discuss how we can use novel methods to improve peer-review, discussing new initiatives, but also highlighting potential dangers that we may encounter along the way.
